KANSAS
ASSOCIATION OF
FAMILY AND CONSUMER
SCIENCES
FOUNDATION
Since
1987 the KAFCS Foundation has been an integral part of our association. The
Foundation was created through the vision and hard work of many of our members
and it has developed and grown through the ongoing support of KAFCS members who
have generously shared their time, talents, and money.
The
purpose of the Foundation is to support the mission and leadership goals of
KAFCS. The KAFCS Foundation
provides funds annually for many activities of the association including the
following:
-
- Yearly awards
and recognition presented to individuals by the Association.
This includes the plaques as well as monetary awards and assistance for
our Teacher of the Year to compete for the national Teacher of the Year award.
- A scholarship
for our outstanding high school student and a scholarship for a community
college student transferring to a Kansas four-year college with a FACS major.
- Stipends for
students and first-time professionals to attend AAFCS meetings.
In addition some support has been given to KAFCS members to attend other
national conferences so that they could bring the important information back to
our membership.
KAFCS
Foundation is a legal entity and is able to receive contributions which can be
claimed tax exempt, and is organized to promote the mission of KAFCS which is to
enhance the well-being of individuals and families.
